コインブラ大学法学部図書館のシノワズリー

コインブラ大学法学部図書館のチャイニーズルームといわれる非公開の図書室でシノワズリーとジャパニングの調査中。
ここは、内寸5.99mX5.71mの１０坪ほどの小さな部屋ですが、部屋の意匠はすべてシノワズリー。世界遺産の旧図書館より約１００年ほど後のものと思われ、中国人の顔により表情が出てきて楽しい。中国風、ベトナム風、南蛮図屏風にあるポルトガル人の帽子など、帽子ひとつをとってもさまざまで、ポルトガル人がなにをシノワズリーと捉えていたのか見ているだけでも興味がわいてくる。

I am researching chinoiserie and japanning at a study room called “Chinese Room” in the Library of the faculty of Law, University of Coimbra, Portugal.
The chinoiserie design of this room may be designed and depicted at least one hundred later than that of chinoiserie in the Old Library of University of Coimbra. The Chinese figures attract me very much.
