マドリッドで開催中の　”Fra Angelico to Fortuny”展を見て

マドリッド滞在中、プラドで”Fra Angelico to Fortuny”という特別展が開催中だったのでわくわくどきどきしながらいったら、フラアンジェリコはプラドが所有する「受胎告知」のみでちょっとがっくりだった。フィレンツェやミラノの受胎告知も来ていたら並べてみられる素晴らしい展覧会にはなるけれど、、それは難しいのだろう。
プラドの「受胎告知」はアダムとイブがリンゴを食べてエデンの園から追放されるのが左側に描かれている。左側で二人は天使に追われて、罪は消え、右側にマリアを描き、やがて神の子が現れて、罪の咎を許すことを予感させる。フラアンジェリコの描くマリアは、処女懐胎が素直に信じられるほどに初々しく美しい。５００年以上前に描かれたとは到底おもえない天使とマリアの肌のみずみずしさにため息が出る。

I went to a special exhibition “Fra Angelico and Fortuny” at Prado, Madrid. I expected to see several pieces of “The Annunciation” together with the ones of Milan and Firenze. However, only Prado’s was exhibited. But it is OK. Fra Angelico is always marvelous!! Virgin Maria is depicted with Adam and Eve in the Prado one. I can believe the Immaculate Conception from the Maria’s purity in the picture by Fra Angelico.
